Probably Stolen Wiki & Guide

A fan wiki for the cyberpunk shopkeeper sim from Questing Goose Studio and tinyBuild. Every number on this site is tagged official, cross-checked, or unverified, so a patch cannot quietly turn a guess into a fact.

What Probably Stolen is

Probably Stolen is a single-player shop sim set on a space station split by money and corruption. You play a former scavenger who talked their way into a storefront with a loan and bad timing. Rent rises. Factions watch the counter. The goods that pay best sit in a legal gray zone. The Steam listing puts the goal in one line: earn enough to buy the shop before the rent takes the choice away.

The store page is blunt about the jobs. You can open as a gunsmith, a chemist, a water merchant, a fence, a farmer, or from rock bottom. Weapons draw inspections. Chemicals draw addiction. Water draws liability. Contraband draws raids. The 1.0 launch post names nine starts: Apprentice, Water Merchant, Fence, Gunsmith, Chemist, Hydroponic Farmer, Aquafarmer, Rat Wrangler, and Rock Bottom. Four difficulty options sit beside them. The developer calls Apprentice the beginner start and Rock Bottom the one where you begin with nothing.

Customers are not a queue of wallets. The official copy says today's buyer might be security fishing for evidence, a revolutionary looking for leverage, or a fallen elite testing whether you are useful. You approve, refuse, report, or look away, and someone writes it down. Reputation buys access and also paints a target on the shutter. Augs, people carrying a rogue AI chip, are the one thing the factions agree on: shoot on sight, and missing the signs has its own price.

How a run actually works

The day loop is a counter, not a combat arena. You raise the shutter, read what the person in front of you wants, inspect the object, and decide whether the deal still makes sense after haggling. Cigarette packs need a look before you resell them. Water needs testing and filtering. Weapons need permits and modifications. Rare goods need an appraisal so you do not overpay. You can cut quality, relabel a fake as genuine, or fence stolen stock if you think security will not arrive. The store page warns that mob justice is the other outcome.

Machines turn that stock into a business. The launch post adds vending machines that keep selling after you close. Patch notes confirm a 3D printer, a water purifier, an evaporator, a chem finisher, smuggler bays, and a labeller. Community catalogues list many more machines. Those extra names are on the recipes page and marked unverified until someone checks them in a current save.

The win condition is the deed. The 28 October launch post says you buy the store from the landlord and receive a stat screen: most profitable sale, days survived, total worth, and perks earned. That is Keys to the Kingdom. Everything else in the endings table is a community account of how a run dies, from missed rent to a bomb on the counter. Those failure names are useful, and they are not official until the studio prints them.

Where to start on your first night

  • Pick Apprentice unless you already want a specialized problem. The developer said it is the generalist start and the best one for beginners.
  • Read the beginner tips before you spend the first stack of credits. Rent is not optional flavor.
  • Use the walkthrough when the counter stops making sense: inspections, bays, Lou, and the buyout.
  • Open the items table when a price looks wrong. Only three prices on that page come from patch notes.
  • Leave Rock Bottom, and the harder difficulties, for a later run. Two achievements exist specifically for winning that way.

Why the game is everywhere right now

The studio's own posts, not a tracker, are the numbers this guide repeats. Before launch they had 500,000 wishlists and said more than 100,000 people had tried the August playtest. tinyBuild's launch announcement added a demo figure of over 660,000 unique players, 98% positive demo reviews, and a Steam Next Fest peak near 40,000 concurrent. On opening day the studio posted 200,000 copies in the first hours and an 86,000-player peak inside 90 minutes. A day later: 350,000+ copies, 320,000+ unique players, and a 112,000+ concurrent peak, inside the global top 12. On 30 October they posted 500,000 copies and 96% positive from nearly 3,000 reviews.

Those percentages are snapshots. A store snippet early on cited 97%. The studio later wrote 95%, then 96%. This guide does not freeze a review score into structured data, because the next hotfix will move it. Check the Steam page (opens in a new tab) for the live figure. Price, platforms, and the requirement table live on the release and system requirements pages.

How facts are tagged

Official means the Steam store payload or a Steam news post from the developer or publisher. Cross-checked means two community write-ups agree, or a Steam achievement id lines up with those write-ups. Unverified means one wiki, or a disagreement. The items and recipes pages are deliberately incomplete. A community database claimed hundreds of items. Reprinting that whole list without opening the game would just launder someone else's guesses. If you confirm a price after patch 1.0.0.6, the edit belongs in `src/data`.

This site is not the studio. Game support is support@tinybuild.com and the developer Discord (opens in a new tab). Corrections to the guide go through the contact page. Simplified Chinese is a planned locale, not a published one. The routing is already shaped so `/zh` can be added without moving the English URLs.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the official Probably Stolen wiki?

No. Questing Goose Studio and tinyBuild make the game. This is an independent fan guide with no access to private design docs.

When did Probably Stolen come out?

28 October 2026 on Steam for Windows, as a full 1.0 release. The developer clock was 2:00 PM CET, 9:00 AM EDT, 6:00 AM PDT.

How much does it cost?

The pre-launch list was US$19.99, €19.99, and £16.99 before a 10% launch discount. Regional prices are on the release page. The discount window can end, so the store page wins.

Are there cheat codes?

No official codes were in the store page or the Steam news posts checked on 31 October 2026. The codes page explains what that does and does not mean.

How many achievements are there?

Twenty-one. Global unlock rates from Steam's API, checked the same day, are on the achievements page.
